JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Student Development at Boyce College oversees the academic, spiritual, and social development of students and partners with the Dean of Students and Assistant Director of Student Life and Housing to lead the Student Life staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
- Work in partnership with the Dean of Students in cultivating spiritual life and sanctifying community among the student body.
- Work in partnership with the Dean of Students in implementing the vision for Student Life through the Student Life staff and student leaders.
- Work closely with Academic Advisors and the Office of Student Success to help students flourish academically.
- Work closely with the Offices of Admissions and Enrollment Management to aid and improve recruitment, persistence, and retention at Boyce College.
- Supervise all student organizations and the Outreach Coordinator to accomplish the goals of the organizations.
- Supervise the Student Leadership Board.
- Supervise Dorm Meeting and Chapel attendance and policies, including requests for exemptions.
- Process residential and meal plan exemption requests.
- Envision and create new activities and traditions with the Coordinator of Events, Activities, and Traditions and Director of Athletics for Boyce College reflecting the vision and culture established by the Dean and Dean of Students.
- Oversee vision and quality of weekly Dorm Meeting with logistical assistance from the Administrative Assistant.
- Work closely with faculty on classroom disciplinary matters and academic dishonesty – determine Student Life discipline and manage documentation of student files.
- Aid in budget and project management oversight for the Student Life Office.
- Research and develop new initiatives for Boyce Student Life.
- Craft new policy proposals and revise existing policies.
- Be a liaison between Student Life and other departments within SBTS and Boyce College, as well as with outside ministry partners.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Dean of Students.
EDUCATION:
The person in this position must have completed a master’s degree in Christian ministry, higher education, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
The person in this position must have a proven record of Christian leadership, discipleship/instruction, administration/organization, oral and written communication skills, and with relationship proficiencies in conflict resolution, counseling, and leadership development.
