Bevin Center Missions Coordinator

JOB TYPE: Part-time

JOB SUMMARY:

The Bevin Center Missions Coordinator oversees, facilitates, and supports ministry and missions projects for the Bevin Center and reports to the Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

  • Communicates Bevin Center mission and priorities to Boyce-Southern community, prospective students, and guests.
  • Oversees Bevin Center mission trips.
    • Coordinates mission trips with IMB field teams and professors.
    • Maintains Bevin Center mission trips and student applications on Managed Missions software.
    • Coordinates student applications and approvals for mission trips with Student Life at Boyce College and Southern Seminary and Team Leaders.
    • Checks-in on students to ensure the pare progressing in raising funds
    • Ensures mission trip team leaders conduct team meetings and debriefings upon completion of missions projects.
  • Facilitates Bevin Center events, local ministries, and missions opportunities. Bevin Center events include:
    • International Coffee Hour (Assist in weekly set-up and tear-down of International Coffee Hour)
    • Evangelism (Compare dates with the academic calendar to schedule evangelism dates, seeks to partner with Local churches for each evangelistic event, walk students through short evangelism training and explain how to use tracks at first evangelism event of the Semester)
    • The Southern Mission Conference
    • The 1937 Project (Connect with Todd at LRBA to get suggestions for local church partners. Reach out to 3-4 local churches to see how students could be of aid. Coordinate all teams and communication between SBTS and the church partners. Compile a list of all tools needed/ need to purchase. Coordinate with Admin Assistant for tool rental/ purchases. Lead interns in organizing tools. Inventory all tools at the end of the project.)
    • Great Commission Week
    • Ministry Fair (Plan with Bevin Center team and Boyce Student Life).
  • Supports Bevin Center projects.
    • Prepares orientation materials to ensure students are prepared for project objectives and appropriate representation of the gospel and Southern Seminary.
    • Provides assistance to student led missions and evangelism fellowships.
    • Maintains gospel resources (tracts, Bibles, media resources).
  • Connects students to local, NAMB and IMB missions agencies. These include the IMB’s Hands-On, Journeyman, and Career opportunities.
    • Familiarize yourself with the work of our ministry partners listed on the website.
    • Reach out to strategic partners (Patrick Schwartz IMB, Shane Pruitt NAMB).
  • Liaise with Louisville Regional Baptist Association (LRBA), Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC) missions, and University of Louisville Baptist Campus Ministries.

Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Bevin Center.

REQUISITE JOB SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills

EDUCATION:

The person in this position should be a Southern or Boyce student.

EXPERIENCE:

The person in this position should have missions experience.
