Graphic Designer

Department: Communications
Location: Louisville, KY

JOB TYPE: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY:

The Designer creates visual content intended to engage, attract, and communicate the story of Southern Seminary across multiple platforms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

  • Develop and design illustrations, layouts and designs for digital and print media, including brochures, catalogs, direct mail, corporate identity, packaging, presentations, promotional displays and signage.
  • Maintain a consistent visual brand style across all platforms and ensure designs align with the brand's identity and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Communication and client teams to define and understand project requirements and create cohesive designs.
  • Review and enhance existing graphics, providing innovative design solutions.
  • Generate drafts and mockups of proposed designs for the client to review. Implement feedback and changes as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Review graphics, layouts, fonts, colors and sizing before passing work to the production coordinator. Provides press-ready files of all assigned projects.
  • Manage multiple design projects from concept to completion, ensuring deadlines are met.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in graphic design or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of visual design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Excellent proficiency of the full Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop (Mac based).
  • Proficiency in designing for both digital and print media.
  • Capability to create original illustrations or graphics by hand or using digital tools is desired but not required.

EDUCATION:

The person in this position will ideally have graphic design education, but specific formal education is not required.
